Coursera’s mission is to encourage learning without limits, and we could not do this without acknowledging the diverse needs of our growing student population. We recognize that language barriers can be obstacles to learning for many around the world, which is why we set up our Global Translation Partners Program.
Today, we’re happy to welcome Yeeyan as our 11th partner, joining our 10 current companies, nonprofits, universities and other organizations who are helping us translate complete lectures from selected courses into Arabic, Japanese, Kazakh, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Ukrainian, and – now, with help from Yeeyan – Chinese.
Yeeyan, founded in 2007, is the largest translator community site in China and a gateway for Chinese speakers to access international news and digital content. A community of more than 30,000 volunteer translators use their spare time and multilingual skills to translate popular content from sites like the New Yorker, the Guardian and Der Spiegel to make it accessible to other Chinese readers. Yeeyan shares our passion of bridging cultures through collaboration and perspective, and we look forward to working with them to better serve our students in China.
