Entrepreneurship is exciting, but success often requires wrestling with the unknown. While some challenges and opportunities are to be expected, there will inevitably be lots of surprises as well.
Fortunately, programs like HEC Paris’ MSc in Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MSIE) are there to help you develop the skills to manage both the known and unknown along your entrepreneurial path. It’s an ideal way to learn about best practices, test out ideas, and explore different business strategies—all in a supportive and risk-free environment.
That last point is a crucial one. Entrepreneurial thought leaders regularly emphasize the importance of learning from failure, but that’s often easier said than done. How you manage failure can have a significant impact on the trajectory of your business. The project-based approach taken by HEC Paris makes it possible for you to obtain real-world experience and create a vibrant and robust group dynamic. MSIE students come from a range of backgrounds, and by working together, you’re able to exchange ideas and improve your teamwork skills, which are essential in any business setting.
Ara Fernezian, an alum of the program, offers some great advice on the kinds of internal conflict that can develop in an entrepreneurial venture. “Remember it all starts with you,” says Ara. “Prioritize what makes you good with people and with yourself, and you will see that magic will happen.” Azat Mardan, also an alum and also a successful entrepreneur, echoes this sentiment, noting that “having a good track record in management and leadership, and showing empathy, can help create a loyal, happy and productive team.”
In the second half of the program, you’ll work in teams on an entrepreneurial project of your choice, from the planning stages to final execution. Successful projects can even be submitted to seek seed funding from HEC Paris through HEC’s incubator, which is based at Station F, the world’s most extensive startup campus. HEC’s incubator has supported over 400 projects and helped ambitious entrepreneurs accelerate and amplify their development.
Alumni from the program often go on to launch their own startups with fellow graduates. You can read more about the experience of graduates here.
Applications for the MSc are open until December 1, 2021. To learn more about the program visit: https://www.coursera.org/degrees/omie or contact firstname.lastname@example.org
