By Marni Baker Stein, Chief Content Officer at Coursera

We’re excited to announce an entry-level Career Coach and Navigator Professional Certificate from Goodwill®, Coursera’s newest industry partner and long-time collaborator in workforce development. The certificate is designed to prepare learners of all backgrounds – no college degree or prior experience required – for a role as a career coach or career navigator. It is available on Coursera today.

Career coaches and navigators help individuals manage their careers and earn a living through fulfilling work. They may interact with people at different stages of their careers, from recent graduates to those who are looking to make a career change or transition into retirement. Day-to-day they help individuals with everything from identifying strengths and interests to providing guidance on salary negotiations. Demand for career counselors in the US is projected to steadily grow as the workforce becomes increasingly diverse, more people transition between careers, and the nature of work itself evolves with the rise of digital tools and remote work opportunities.

The four-course certificate takes roughly four months to complete with four hours of coursework per week. Taught by professionals with experience in the field, learners will explore career coaching fundamentals, key tools and methods used by coaches, and how technology trends are impacting the career landscape more broadly. The certificate costs $49 per month and is 100% online and self-paced. Upon completion, learners will have the skills needed to pursue an entry-level career coach or career navigator position.

“Goodwill provides career services to help individuals facing barriers reach their potential through the power of work. Employers in local communities find Goodwill to be a trusted source for talent,” said Martin Scaglione, Chief Mission Officer of Goodwill Industries International. “The Goodwill Career Coach and Navigator Professional Certificate not only benefits career services professionals and employers, but most importantly it is a game changer for the individual they both serve, by opening access to opportunity.”

We are proud to partner with Goodwill, an organization that brings 120 years of industry expertise, to train the next generation of career coaches and navigators. Goodwill has been a Coursera social impact partner for years, providing wrap-around support services such as mentoring, child care, and transportation to help boost student success. Goodwill’s workforce development efforts span even further – every day, more than 300 people find a job with Goodwill’s support.

Kickstart your journey to becoming a Career Coach or Navigator and enroll in Goodwill’s certificate on Coursera today.
