By Jeff Maggioncalda, CEO Coursera

Over 110 million learners have come to Coursera to learn new skills and transform their lives. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished, and we still have much work ahead. Amid rapid digitization, there are millions of learners around the world whom we have yet to reach that need access to high-quality, affordable learning to prepare for the digital economy.

To help us seize this opportunity, I’m excited to welcome Tim Hannan as our new Chief Marketing Officer, effective October 31, 2022.

Tim will harness the full power of Coursera’s marketing engine to identify new growth opportunities, deploy data-driven solutions, and find effective ways to bring the Coursera community together to transform lives through learning.

With over 15 years of leadership experience at top consumer and enterprise marketplaces, Tim brings expertise in growing and scaling brands to Coursera.

During his nearly five years at eHealth, Tim served as Chief Marketing Officer and, most recently, Chief Revenue Officer. He oversaw and optimized departments, built industry-leading digital marketing capabilities, and created a more dynamic, rapidly growing business. Previously, Tim was CMO of Ibotta, Inc., one of the nation’s top shopping apps, and held leadership positions at Trip.com, Orbitz Worldwide, and Expedia. He earned his undergraduate degree in quantitative economics and finance from Providence College and an MBA from London Business School.

As we welcome Tim, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Kim Caldbeck, who has served as our CMO since 2018 and will continue as an advisor to Coursera. Since joining the company in 2015, she helped launch our enterprise and degree segments, powered affordable degrees through data-driven marketing, and led go-to-market strategies for two initiatives during the pandemic that reached 3.7 million students and workers. Kim wants to spend more time with her family while continuing to serve our mission, and I’m glad we can support her. Thank you for setting us up for the future, Kim.

I look forward to seeing Tim expand on the foundation Kim built and enhance our marketing system so that we can further deliver on our mission and better serve our learners, partners, and customers around the world.
