Two new universities joining Coursera are particularly exciting for two reasons: (1) they’re the first universities on Coursera located in Latin America, and (2) both universities will be offering select courses in Spanish!
The Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and Tecnológico de Monterrey are extremely high-ranking and well-respected universities located in Mexico, and will be offering classes across a broad range of disciplines. Here’s some more information about the schools:
- Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México: Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México was founded in 1551,and is the only university in Mexico with Nobel Prize laureates among its alumni. The institution’s primary purpose is to serve the country and humanity, train professionals useful to society, organize and conduct research (mainly on national problems and conditions) and spread cultural benefits.
- Tecnológico de Monterrey: Tecnológico de Monterrey is one of the largest private, non-profit educational institutions in Latin America, with over 90,000 students at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels. The school is known for becoming the first university ever connected to the Internet in Latin America!
