Team collaboration company Atlassian, creator of leading software products JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence, and Hipchat, is teaming up with Coursera to grow the community of software developers by giving motivated learners the opportunity to build new technical skills.

For a limited time only, learners who sign up for computer science courses on Coursera will receive 50% off their course fee, courtesy of Atlassian. Through this offer, Atlassian hopes to empower thousands of people to develop the next generation of software products to solve the world’s toughest challenges.

Atlassian co-Founder and co-CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes said Coursera’s model will help Atlassian reach a diverse group of students, including non-traditional students like parents returning to the workforce, veterans entering the private sector, and mid-life career changers. “Everyone’s life is touched by software,” noted Cannon-Brookes, “and we want everyone to have the opportunity to create it.”

Rick Levin, Coursera’s CEO, agreed. “Many of the world’s most impressive companies achieved their impact through the work of great software engineers,” added Levin. “We are excited to work with Atlassian to equip more people with the technical skills to become developers.”

The 50% sponsorship is now available on a first come, first serve basis, for a limited time only. So if you’ve been waiting to join a computer science course on Coursera, this is the perfect time to enroll!
