Took a Specialization, got a job at Blackberry
After 8 years of working in project management, Srikanth Hari wanted to make the move to software development. But even with an MBA from Berkeley, technology had changed so drastically that he felt behind on relevant industry trends to make an impact. A simple search for building new skills on the web landed him on Coursera.
Srikanth immediately enrolled in the Android App Development and Cybersecurity Specializations because of the quality of materials offered and the experience of the professors. The flexibility of start dates and ability to go back and review course content was also an enticing factor for earning multiple Verified Certificates.
With new credentials, he caught the attention of recruiters at Blackberry. During an in-person interview, he was directly asked “how do you keep your skills up to date?”. His answer was Coursera. The team was impressed with his knowledge, proactivity to be up-to-date and offered him the job. Srikanth is now a Systems Software Developer for Blackberry.
But Srikanth’s involvement with Coursera didn’t end there. In fact, when he jumped into the new role, some of his projects made better sense because of the applicable content the courses taught him. This allowed him to deliver beyond expectations and make an instant report amongst his peers. Srikanth continues to take courses on Coursera to build skills and stay ahead of the curve.
