As you may recall, this past spring we launched our first Teacher Professional Development courses from a great set of partners, including the American Museum of Natural History, MoMA, the New Teacher Center, the Commonwealth Education Trust, and others. We recently wrapped up our first set of these courses, and it was great to see so many teachers from a diverse range of backgrounds coming together to share their experiences and develop their skills.
In the coming weeks we’ll be launching the next batch of Teacher Professional Development courses, and we hope that many teachers, parents and anyone else interested in education will explore the range of topics we’ll be offering. The expertise of our partners, along with the years of first-hand experience shared between peers offer powerful resources, and we hope this will help advance learning both in and outside the classroom. Fall courses will be offered by University of California-Irvine, University of Virginia, Rice University, Match Teacher Residency, the Exploratorium, and others.
As with all Coursera courses, you can take any Teacher Professional Development course free of charge. Those who are particularly interested in putting this coursework on their resumes can earn a Verified Certificate that shows you’ve mastered each course’s material. If you plan to use these courses to apply for Continued Education Units, please make sure to reach out to your local district administrator. If you are a district administrator with any questions about using Coursera courses for CEUs, please contact us at districtTPD@coursera.org.
